Ecological Stewards

Elder Harriet Nahanee being arrested by the Vancouver police at Eagleridge Bluffs on 25 May 2006 as she cites her Indian rights under the 1763 Royal Proclamation. Some First Nations people such as Harriet have a traditional role as ecological stewards. In 2007 she was unjustly jailed for blockading the American company Peter Kiewit & Sons to prevent it from destroying Eagleridge Bluffs. Photo: Christopher Grabowski
